Nestled in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala rests on the slopes of the Dhauladhar range, part of the Outer Himalayas. Towering at 3290 mt, the snow-clad Dhauladhar meaning "white ridge"rises dramatically above the lush Kangra Valley below, a fertile plain dotted with rolling hills.
A spiritual and cultural hub, Dharamsala, especially Mcleodganj draws seekers from around the world to receive teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The cool mountain air and high altitude echo the Tibetan homeland, making it a fitting refuge for Tibetan culture in exile. Despite modern touches, the town retains a distinctly Tibetan soul, vibrant monasteries, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze, the scent of momos and thukpa in the air, and streets lined with shops offering traditional crafts and art.
