Welcome to Sach Pass — the undisputed “Daddy of All Passes”, perched at a jaw-dropping 4,414 meters (14,482 ft) in Himachal’s wild heart. It is also known wrongly as Saachpass but its real name is Sachche Pass. This is where legends are made, and machines are pushed to the edge. Located 127 km from Chamba, Sach Pass connects the scenic Chamba Valley to the raw and remote Pangi Valley and it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Saach Pass (or Sachche Pass) is one of the highest and most dangerous motorable roads in India. Located in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, this mountain pass connects the verdant Chamba Valley with the rugged, untouched wilderness of the Pangi Valley.

Itinerary

🗓️ Detailed Itinerary 5N/6D

Day 1: Chandigarh  – Dalhousie – Khajjiar – Jot Pass Stay

  • Start your ride from Chandigarh, covering 233 km to Pathankot
  • Brief halt at Nurpur Fort
  • Continue 60 km to Dalhousie – explore cafes, colonial buildings, and pine-laced landscapes
  • Ride 24 km to Khajjiar – the “Mini Switzerland of India”
  • Reach Jot Pass (20 km) for overnight stay with bonfire and dinner

Day 2: Jot – Saach Pass (4,390 m) – Killar

  • Ride into the heart of the Himalayas through dense pine forests and glacial terrain
  • Cross the legendary Saach Pass, one of the toughest routes in the country
  • Descend into the wild Pangi Valley and reach Killar (42 km)
  • Overnight in Killar (admin HQ of Pangi Valley)

Day 3: Explore Pangi Valley

  • A full day to explore the untouched wilderness
  • Interact with local Gaddi tribes
  • Ride along dramatic cliffs and roaring rivers
  • Optional: hike to waterfalls or visit ancient temples

Day 4: Killar – Udaipur – Keylong

  • Depart Killar for Udaipur (79 km), famous for the Mrikula Devi Temple
  • Continue to Keylong (54 km) through surreal mountain routes
  • Check-in at hotel and relax

Day 5: Keylong – Rohtang Pass (3,978 m) – Manali

  • Ride over the iconic Rohtang Pass, famous for snow walls and 360° views
  • Descend into lush Kullu Valley
  • Reach Manali, unwind and explore Old Manali cafes

Day 6: Manali – Chandigarh

  • Final ride of the trip – 299 km back to Chandigarh
  • Bid farewell to the Himalayas with stories, memories & friendships
